Hyper Jump is a super cool and immaculately visualised jumping game from Camel Games. The idea is to help you character to ascend as high as possible, collecting coins along the way. Controls are performed via tilting, so gameplay will be instantly familiar if you’ve ever played the perennial Android hit Abduction! or Doodle Jump. Graphically, Hyper Jump is just beautiful and, combined with quirky sound, fun gameplay and a variety of customisations, is a hugely addictive and immensely fun title.

Might become too repetitive for some.Hyper Jump is a title that has been hugely popular in the Android Market for a while now, and was recently one of the 10c apps available in the Android 10BN Download Sale. It’s a simple physics game where you need to guide you character as high as possible. To do so you need to ‘hit’ coins on the way up, by tilting your device from side to side. If you’ve played game like Abduction! you will be immediately familiar.
On your ascent there are a slew of bonuses and extras to collect which help you, from bat wings and feathers to powerful booster packs and more, there’s a lot out there to discover and find.
An especially neat feature is the added resources pack which you download separately. Contained within is a load more characters and backgrounds to choose from. This is great as it gives some diversity to gameplay, and lets you customise the game as you like.
Perhaps the game’s simplicity is the thing that will draw people to the it initially, but also put people off in the long term. It’s immediately pick-up-and-playable, so much so a child could easily play it, but after a while the tilting and the frustrating falls to the ground wear a little thin and it becomes a little repetitive. While there are achievements to unlock, this might not be enough for some gamers who expect ever-more from their gaming experiences.
Hyper Jump is a very fun game that is immediately rewarding, like a glorious sugar high, or an impressive fireworks display. However, it doesn’t perhaps retain the replay-ability after prolonged play. Great while it lasts though!
Oh yes, very addictive. You always feel a little hard done by when you eventually fall from the sky, like it’s a minor injustice. This compels you to go back and play again in order to rectify that. With the achievements to unlock too, it’s something that continues to draw you back.
For 2D graphics you don’t get much better. Blisteringly fast and amazingly fluid and smooth, it’s a joy to watch, let alone play. Especially when you get the jet pack, you can almost feel the G-forces as you stream vertical.
The accelerometer controls are very responsive and work perfectly with the game itself. The sound is a quirky collection of laughter, whooping sounds, ‘tings’, rocket noises and a nice background music track for the end of level menu.
