Text Tone is a neat little app that just gives you a bit more control over your notifications. Typically we are limited to selecting a ringtone or whether your device will vibrate or not, however, Text Tone provides additional functionality. Brilliant if you receive lots of notifications and want to differentiate between them.

Pros
Have different notification sounds for text and email!Alter the vibration pattern of you device when you receive a text!Create custom notifications for certain contacts: vibration, ringtone, status bar icon!Easy to enable/disable master switch!Simple to configure!Cons
Doesn’t work with MMS messages.Might not work with some 3rd party SMS apps.If you receive a lot of text messages from different people, it might become a burden to organise which of these you’re interested in and which ones you aren’t. For example, digging your device from your pocket for an SMS from your cell phone provider might seem like a waste of time (and somewhat frustrating) if you’re waiting for a message from a friend or family member.
Text Tone gives you a wealth of options for how you receive notifications. These can be created either for all notifications or for specific contacts. Basic functionality lets you specify the ringtone, status bar icon and vibration pattern- for high scoring geek points you can also send your self a message vibrated in Morse code! ![]()
When you then create a profile for a specific contact you also have an additional set of rules you can apply. These include: always playing the tone even if in silent mode and repeat tone until message is acknowledged (or, for that matter) a combination of both of these. With tools like this you could determine who is texting you from the vibration pattern or ringtone. You can create any number of profiles for different contacts, meaning you can always tell who is messaging you.
Text Tone is incredibly easy to use and the menus, etc. are very simple to navigate. Unfortunately the service doesn’t currently work on MMS messages and if you use a 3rd party text messaging service it might not be compatible. However, there’s a trial version of the app, so check this out first to ensure it’s going to work for you.
Watch on MobileIf you receive lots of different texts and notifications form a variety of people, this is an ideal tool for managing your notifications. Immediately know who it’s from, just by the ringtone or vibration pattern. Silence the messages from people or companies you just aren’t interested in and make sure you get the messages from the people you need to.
It’s a piece of cake to set up, the inclusion of a handy master switch means you will always know whether the service is activated.
Ultimately this will kick in whenever you get a text message. ![]()
The interface is phenomenally simplistic, but this means it’s also very easy to configure and use.
